Review: Bobbie Basic Special Quick Dry

Hi Hi!!

I don't really have any cute anecdotes about this bottle so, I'll just go straight on with the review.

Rating:

1. Packaging: (5/5)
The packaging is awesome! I love how chic it looks. It doesn't look cheap at all.

2. Application: (2/5)
It's basically oil. I don't like how if you apply too much, it goes on your fingertips and if you're like me where you type on your keyboard while your polish dries, it makes the keyboard oily.

3. Drying Time: (3/5)
The drying time of the polish after you put this on is fairly decent. It doesn't completely dry up in thirty seconds but it doesn't take forever either. In this aspect, the product is not super amazing but it's not that bad either.

OVERALL RATING: 3/5
WOULD I RECOMMEND?: No. You're better off with a quick dry top coat.

Price: Php40 for 15mL

Review: Klik Regular Nail Polish (Php13)

Hwazzap!

Hazel requested a review for these polishes so, here it is!

I'm eternally looking for decent quality but inexpensive polishes. I have had a few fails before like the Regina's Polishes which sell for Php10 each bottle but I do think these may be a win.
The packaging is pretty decent. It's small and square which is kinda unique. It doesn't have the ingredients printed on it though which is a potential problem to some of you.

Other than that, the packaging is pretty good considering the price you're paying for it.

The color range is impressive. If you visit Unimart at Greenhills, they have a very wide variety of colors you can choose from. But Unimart is the only place I've ever seen them so, they might not be widely available.

Onto the actual formulation.
As you can see in the photo above, it took four coats for it to reach my desired level of opacity. Four coats is a coat more than what I'm used to but, again, considering the price, we should be thankful that it doesn't take the whole bottle to become opaque.

Drying time is typical but slightly on the quick side. It's not one of those polishes that dry within thirty seconds but it's not one of those that take forever to dry either.

As you can see in the photo above, this time, it only took three coats to be completely opaque so, I guess it varies per bottle but it probably just ranges from three to four coats.

The formulation is actually not a problem because from experience with drugstore polishes, like my Caress polishes, the longer I had it, the lesser coats it took to become opaque.

Based solely on the aforementioned, I think it's a pretty good polish for Php13 something. (Check my haul for the exact price)

The staying power is a different topic altogether. In my opinion, the nail polish is only as good as your base/top coat. But I did take it on a road test.

Four days after I have painted my nails and NO CHIPS IN SIGHT! It's amazing! My Caress polishes chip within the next three days.

Although, what I can say about this polish is that you're gonna need a good top coat over this. As you can see from the photos above, there were scratches and dents on it.

And can someone help me with this? In the very top photo of the three above, there are bumps/bubbles. What are those? Please comment. Thank you!

So, there you have it!

Personally, I would definitely be purchasing more from this brand. I love the colors and I love the price! All I need is a good top coat and it will be amazing!

Hope you like!

Is there anything else you guys would like me to do/review? I'll do anything for you!

Review: Regina's Php10 Nail Polishes

Hey guyyysss!!

A couple of hauls ago, I showed you guys two polishes that broke the challenge. I think I failed to mention that I bought those from Regina's at Shoppesville, Greenhills.

I was just looking around the store when I saw this little box of little bottles of polishes. I was looking through the colors and I saw that they were only Php10 for each bottle.

I was so excited which was why I bought two bottles. I didn't know what to expect since they were really cheap.

I should have known better though. When I wore the green polish, when the polish chipped, my nails chipped along with it!

With the coral polish though, it was very weird. The polish smelled like actual paint. It's very thick and goopy.
After a while, I don't know what happened but it started turning white. It starts from the tips of the nails and works its way up.

It's very strange and I have never encountered nail polish with which this occurs.

This made me very skeptical about the polishes being sold there. I think it's actual paint that they put in little bottles. I know that sounds stupid but that's what I think.

I don't really recommend purchasing polishes from Regina's. Or if you really want to avail of the deal, try avoiding the bottles with the black cap.

I hope this helps some of you!

Review: Chic Classic Nail Color Regular Base Coat

Howdy!

I previously reviewed my old base coat from Caronia and if you have read that, you know that it is not worth the money.

I randomly picked up a clear polish to use as a base and top coat and I turn the bottle over and I find out that it really was a legit base coat.

1. Packaging: (3/5)
The packaging is decent but I must admit, to me, they look kinda cheap. It's similar to the packaging of the Caronia nail polishes which I also don't care for.

2. Application: (3/5)
The application is okay. It applies pretty much the same as any regular polish.

3. Drying Time: (3/5)
The drying time is decent as well. Nothing special but it doesn't take forever to dry which is kinda good.

4. Smoothness of Color Polish: (4/5)
I was going to give this a zero but I think it's my fault that I got dents in the colored nail polish. Basically, in my right hand, it looks amazing. It's smooth and dent-free. But on my left hand, dents galore. So, I think that it needs just a little bit more time to dry so that the quality of the color polish turns out better.

5. Lasting Power: (3/5)
When using my Caress polishes, within a week, it chipped like crazy. But when I use my The Face Shop polishes, which are notorious for chipping, it stayed put. It did get some wear and tear on the tips but other than that, it's still pretty good. So, I guess it still depends on the lasting power of the colored polish itself.

OVERALL RATING: 3/5
WOULD I RECOMMEND?: No. There are definitely better brands of base coats

Price: Php38 for 15mL
Availability: Mercury Drug

Do you guys have any recommendations for good base coats?

Review: Caress Nail Polish

Hi guys!

I love this brand of polish 'cause it's widely available and it's cheap too!

So, I thought I'd do a review on these. I really don't feel like doing a formal review so, this would be more free-form, I guess.
So, here are the ones I have. They have two lines in their polish. The regular line and their frosted line.
The two polishes I have from their regular line is Satisfaction (the lavender one) and Tahiti Brown.
I like the regular line better. They only take two coats to be completely opaque and it comes out even and not streaky.
The pictures above on the other hand, are from the frosted line. They're called Apple Green, Touch of Taupe, Silver Frost (with and without flash) respectively. As you can see, the quality could be better. It's very streaky and if you don't apply it well, bumps will emerge.

At first, you'll need three coats for them to be opaque but as they get thicker, you'll only need two coats.

Over all, I love these for the price more than anything. Also, their shelf-life is long. I've had these for a few months already and they're still pretty good.

Without top or base coat, the polish only lasts, at most, three days. With a good top or base coat, it lasts much longer.

So, I do recommend the polishes but only for their regular line. I love that they have a wide range of color. And I love that they cost less than Php30.

So, yeah. I hope you guys enjoyed this review.

Review: Caronia Nail Hardener & Base Coat + Caronia Solvent

Hi hi!

Back when I decided to venture into drugstore nail polishes, I saw that within a few uses of the polishes, when the polish chips off, chunks of my nails would chip off with it. This scared me so, I looked around for a good base coat, and I found these!

CARONIA SOLVENT

1. Packaging: (2/5)
Starting off with the good points, I like the overall look of the bottle. I like the look of the cap and the fact that the bottle itself is made of glass. It doesn't look cheap. What I don't like about the packaging though is that it doesn't give you any means of transferring the solvent to your nail polish bottle. The mouth of the bottle is too small for you try pouring it into the nail polish bottle. I tried this and I wasted half the bottle. The best way they could have remedied this is that they could've had a dropper that was attached to the cap or they could've made a small pointed applicator (similar to the nozzle of squeeze out tubes) that you can tip into your nail polish bottle. Anyways, I had to purchase a separate medicine dropper to get proper use out of this solvent.

2. Application: (5/5)
The amount of application (which I didn't measure, sorry) is decent. You just drop a few drops and it'll work nicely. After dropping the product, you have to shake it so that it'll mix with the polish and afterwards, it's ready to use. I really like the application because it's simple and quick. Although, you will have to re-drop it once it gets goopy again but that won't happen until a long time.

OVERALL RATING: 3.5/5
WOULD I RECOMMEND?: Yes. This is the only inexpensive nail polish thinner I have ever seen in the market.

Price: Php30 for 15mL
Availability: I've only ever seen it in certain Watson's branches.

*Before I had this, I used nail polish remover which apparently is bad for the polish because it changes the color of the polish and the polish will get goopy again after the nail polish remover evaporates.

CARONIA NAIL HARDENER & BASE COAT

1. Packaging: (5/5)
The packaging is decent. It's chic and the applicator is just like any other nail polish which is pretty convenient. Other than that, I don't really have any complaints with the packaging.

2. Application: (1/5)
The application is pretty easy, you just paint it on your nails just like any other nail polish. The drying is what I HATE about this. It literally takes over a day to dry. LITERALLY. I paint this on my nails and then it may seem dry. Thinking that it's dry, I painted my nail polish over it and I fell asleep, the next day, I found my nails to have lines on them brought about by the sheets. It's so annoying. So, when I use this, I put it on in the morning and I have to wait until the next morning to put on the actual nail polish color. You are seriously better off using a clear nail polish.

3. Nail Hardener: (4/5)
Aside from it taking eons to dry, it actually helps with the hardening of my nails. My nails don't chip off as easily anymore and it works really well in that aspect.

OVERALL RATING: 3/5
WOULD I RECOMMEND?: Yes (as a nail hardener) & No (as a base coat)
What I do with this is that when I don't feel like having polish on, I paint one coat of this on my nail just so it will help harden it.

Price: Php43 for 15mL
Availability: I have seen this in certain Watson's stores and also in Unimart, Greenhills.

OTHER THINGS
Is a base coat the same as clear nail polish?
Yes BUT if you use clear nail polish as your base coat, you will not get the benefits that some base coats offer. For example, if you have ridges in your nails, you are better off using a ridge filler base coat. If you have weak nails, you are better off using a nail hardener base coat. If you do not have issues with your nails, then it would be fine if you opt to use clear polish for a base coat.
