Beauty in a Box: Mayonnaise Head

Hellooooooooo!!

I assume everyone knows who Avril Lavigne is, right?

I heard that she used to do this trick to get her hair the way it was. Everybody knows the Avril Lavigne hair back in her "Complicated" days. It was so straight and shiny!

Finally, I got the chance to try this trick out!

Of course, I needed Mayonnaise and this was the one we had.

I used a shower cap I got from a hotel and a tablespoon I use for baking.

Here's the before shot of my hair. This is second day hair, by the way.

I only used one tablespoon of mayonnaise because I have thin and short hair now.

This is what my hair looks like with mayonnaise. I didn't put much on the scalp because I didn't want it to look too greasy.

Shower cap? Check.

After shot.

Me no likey. It made my hair feel greasy even after washing it already. The worst part, my hair fall got worse.

I'm prone to hair fall already. Little things like staying up too late aggravate my hair fall problem. So, if you don't have problems with hair fall, it might work better for you.

I think that the mayonnaise trick will work so much better for people with dry hair. It really did give that shine but I have oily hair already and I would have gotten the shine by not taking a shower for three days.

So, I hope this helped out!

It's a fail for me but it might not be for you.

Ann's suggestion is intruiging :D

I watched somewhere that you can do the same thing using vinegar. But that's for dandruff naman. Hehe. That's even worse than putting mayo on your hair. :\

I've never heard of beer on the hair before.. Odd. LOL.

And I don't think I'll be putting vinegar on my hair anytime soon. I might not have any left!!

My sister this her hair stank after she did it and she said it was a fail. The only thing I've tried is lemon :)

@Ar-Ar: I knoooww! They're PERFECT on hotdogs with ketchup. Yummeh!!

@Tiffo: Best to stay away from that! The only thing I put on my hair is baby powder. :))

@Slo: Definitely a fail. I hated the way my hair felt after this. And does lemon really make your hair lighter? Like Sam from Glee? LOL

Michelle! I missed you! :) Anyways, I actually did this back in college. And I liked the effect it did on my hair. It's like having my hair newly conditioned, hot oiled. It made it very shiny and soft. What I hated about it (and thats the reason why I never did it again) was the smell. I smelled like palengke (wet market), I smelled like raw fish. Haha! Basta I hated the smell. And OMG my friends could smell it too! Even if I already shampooed my hair lots of times, it still smelled malansa. :( Haha!

For me, I didn't really have a problem with the smell. The shampoo I used took care of that. What I didn't like was the grease it gave to my hair. :-/ But glad to hear that it actually works for some. :)
